Lady Cannoneers Celebrate Sophomore Night with 3–1 Win Over Paul Smith’s College
Jefferson Volleyball Honors their Sophomores Last night.
The Lady Cannoneers honored their seven sophomores in style, securing a hard-fought 3–1 victory over Paul Smith's College in front of a supportive home crowd.

Keira Guerriero led the offense with 11 kills, followed by Kaitlyn Pownall with 7 and Leah Ingerson with 4.
• Assists:
Kali Waltz set the tempo with 16 assists, while Lillian De Alba added 8 and Abby Rudd contributed 7.
• Service Aces:
Keira, Kali, and Kaitlyn each tallied 3 aces, with Leah adding 2 more to the team total.
• Digs:
Ryleigh Fleming and Elissa Chavez anchored the defense with 9 digs apiece. Keira added 7 digs to her all-around performance.
• Blocks:
Kaitlyn Pownall recorded 2 blocks, while Jasmene Duymaz and MaryAnn Tulafono each added 1.
The Lady Cannoneers now turn their focus to the final weekend of regular season play. They'll travel to Corning for a doubleheader on Saturday against Corning CC and Onondaga CC (12 & 2 PM), followed by a single match on Sunday at 10 AM versus Corning CC.

#1 Ryleigh Fleming (Pop Tart) - Libero
Ryleigh Fleming, affectionately known as "Pop Tart," is a standout player on the Jefferson Community College Cannoneers volleyball team. Majoring in Allied Health, Ryleigh is set to receive her associate's degree this spring and will continue her academic and volleyball career at SUNY Canton.
Throughout her time with us, Ryleigh has consistently given 110% at both practice and matches. Her drive and dedication as our Libero have been remarkable. Her career stats to date include 336 digs (ranked 9th in NJCAA Region 3), 13 assists, 12 service aces, and 7 kills. Ryleigh has always been a huge help at our volleyball camps and events, showcasing her top-notch character. She also spends time in the spring assist coaching for the local youth volleyball club, demonstrating her leadership to her teammates and young girls across our area.
Ryleigh's commitment to improving her craft is evident as she works extra hours on her own to become the best Libero around. We will miss her greatly, having coached her for many years throughout club volleyball. Coach Mykala has had the privilege of coaching Ryleigh during her high school years and has watched this amazing person grow into a well-rounded athlete and a Libero with tactical knowledge. Her team-first mentality is contagious among her teammates, and when she is on the court, her grit and resilience shine.
Ryleigh, aka Pop Tart, will truly be missed by us coaches. We know she is ready for her next adventure with SUNY Canton, and the Roo's will definitely feel the powerhouse Libero they are about to roster.

#3 Leah Ingerson – Middle Blocker / Outside Hitter
Leah Ingerson, a driving force on the Jefferson Community College Cannoneers volleyball team, has distinguished herself as a versatile athlete and leader. Majoring in Human Services, Leah will receive her associate's degree this spring and plans to continue her education, pursuing a four-year degree in Social Work.
Throughout her Cannoneers career, Leah has consistently given 110% both in practice and competition. Her journey began as an Outside Hitter, but she embraced a seamless transition to Middle Blocker this season—always putting her team first. Leah's character and maturity go far beyond her years; she's the first to ask for extra reps, no matter how early, dedicated to honing her skills and elevating her game.
Leah's career stats reflect her impact on the court: 73 kills, 70 digs, 23 service aces, and 13 blocks. Her leadership at the net, competitive drive, and resilience have been contagious within the team, inspiring those around her to push themselves further. Leah's accountability is unparalleled—she sets the standard for what it means to be a committed athlete and teammate.
Beyond her play, Leah has been a pillar of support at volleyball camps, clinics, and fundraisers, always willing to lend a hand and serve as a role model for younger players. Her coaches and teammates deeply appreciate her unwavering dedication to the program and the community.

#4 Lilian De Alba – Setter
Lilian De Alba, our talented Setter, has made a remarkable impact in her first year with the Jefferson Community College Cannoneers. Majoring in Natural Sciences, Lilian will receive her associate's degree this spring and plans to transfer to Alfred State to pursue a degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography. She joined our team as a sophomore and immediately stood out, working tirelessly to master our offense and defense while forging strong hitter-setter connections through countless extra reps.
Lilian's dedication on the court is evident in her stats: 26 assists, 4 service aces, and 2 kills. She is a familiar face to the coaching staff, having been coached by us during her high school years in club volleyball, and Coach Mykala had the privilege of watching her grow into the outstanding setter she is today. Lilian is our quiet leader—she may not be the loudest on the court, but she is always the first to rally her teammates in the huddle, ensuring everyone is ready for the next play and offering positive encouragement to push for the next point.
Her reliability as a server has been a tremendous asset, and we know we can count on her to deliver a service ace when it matters most. Lilian's commitment, work ethic, and supportive spirit have endeared her to coaches and teammates alike. #5 Brooke Finster – Outside Hitter
Brooke Finster's Cannoneers journey has been defined by unwavering commitment and remarkable growth, both on and off the court. Majoring in Humanities and Social Science, Brooke will earn her associate's degree this winter before transferring to a four-year college, where she plans to pursue Adolescent Education (grades 7–12) with the goal of shaping young minds as a high school history teacher.
From the moment Brooke joined our team, her tireless dedication to perfecting her craft has been unmistakable. She is the hardest-working volleyball player we've seen in years—always seeking out extra reps, determined to master every skill. Her drive is reflected in her career stats: 20 digs, 15 kills, 6 service aces, and 2 assists. Brooke's impact on the court goes beyond numbers; her determination and focus inspire her teammates to strive for excellence.
Accountability and a team-first mentality are the hallmarks of Brooke's character. Whether it's early morning training, stepping up to lead a task, or supporting a teammate during a tough practice, Brooke always puts the needs of the group above her own. Her integrity and reliability shine just as brightly off the court, where she's an enthusiastic contributor at camps, clinics, and fundraisers, consistently lending a hand or taking the initiative to organize and lead.
Brooke is all volleyball. Not only does she help at every camp and clinic, but she also serves as a Volleyball Official, modeling the same standards of sportsmanship and professionalism she brings to her game. We have had the privilege to coach Brooke during club volleyball and watch her develop through her high school career, guided by Coach Mykala and the Cannoneers staff. Her growth into an outstanding athlete and leader has been a joy to witness.

#7 Kali Waltz (Co-Captain) - Setter
Kali Waltz has been a cornerstone of the Cannoneers volleyball program, leaving a legacy defined by adaptability, leadership, and unwavering dedication. Majoring in business administration, Kali will earn her associate's degree this spring.
Kali's athletic journey is a testament to her resilience and commitment to team success. Originally playing as an Outside Hitter, she embraced a pivotal transition to Setter—demonstrating not only tactical intelligence but also a selfless willingness to serve wherever the team needed her most. This shift has been seamless, and Kali has thrived in her new role, utilizing her vision and quick decision-making to orchestrate the Cannoneers' offense.
Her impressive career stats highlight her impact: over 235 assists, 44 service aces, 226 digs, and 19 kills, alongside numerous key plays that fueled team momentum. Kali's achievements include earning Athlete of the Week. Kali's efforts have not gone unnoticed; her consistent performances and strategic acumen have earned her the respect of coaches, teammates, and opponents alike.
As Co-Captain, Kali has led by example, fostering unity and determination among her peers. Her leadership extends beyond game-day strategy—she is the steady voice in huddles, the motivator during challenging stretches, and the first to celebrate a teammate's success. Kali's influence has elevated the entire program, inspiring those around her to push their limits and support one another.

#13 Keira Guerriero - Outside Hitter
Keira Guerriero has made an indelible mark on the Cannoneers volleyball program as an outstanding Outside Hitter, combining athletic talent with relentless determination and a positive spirit. Majoring in Allied Health, Keira will receive her associate's degree this spring and plans to transfer to a four-year college to pursue a degree in biochemistry while continuing her volleyball journey.
Keira's dedication to personal growth and her winning attitude consistently inspire those around her. She is known for her unwavering work ethic, always striving to improve her skills and uplift her teammates with encouragement both on and off the court. Her impressive career stats—294 kills, 18 assists, 48 service aces, 336 digs, and 18 blocks—underscore her versatility and impact as a player. Keira's achievements include earning 2024-25 MSAC All-Conference 2nd Team honors, Athlete of the Week, and NJCAA Region 3 Athlete of the Week.
We have had the privilege to coach Keira during her high school club volleyball seasons, witnessing her remarkable growth into a powerful and intelligent competitor. #17 Elissa Chavez-defensive Specialist
Elissa Chavez has been the heartbeat of the Cannoneers, embodying the spirit of leadership and resilience as a motivating Defensive Specialist. Majoring in Nursing, Elissa will receive her associate's degree this spring and is set to launch her career in nursing—a testament to her dedication both on and off the court. Selected to serve as Co-Captain, she has gone above and beyond for her teammates, spending extra time to support them academically, emotionally, and personally, always offering a shoulder to lean on. This unwavering commitment to her peers truly sets her apart as an exceptional leader.
Known for her positivity, Elissa is always the loudest in the gym, lifting spirits and rallying her team through every challenge. Relentless in her defensive role, she excels with her tactical short serves and tenacious play. Her career stats—40 digs, 3 service aces, and 2 assists—only scratch the surface of her true impact. Elissa's leadership has been top-notch, consistently putting the team first and serving as a role model for all.
We hold deep respect for Elissa's determination to better her career while her daughter, Sekani, cheers on from afar as one of our biggest Cannoneer supporters. We also honor Assistant Coach Mykala Williamson
as she prepares to bid farewell to the Cannoneers and return home to Oregon after a remarkable tenure that began in 2019. Mykala's unwavering dedication and passion have left an indelible mark on our program, shaping not only the team's competitive spirit, but also the lives of countless athletes she has mentored over the years.
Throughout her time with the Cannoneers, Coach Mykala played a pivotal role in developing multiple All MSAC Conference players, guiding athletes to NJCAA Region 3 All-Region teams, and nurturing a Region 3 Player of the Year. Her commitment to excellence helped elevate our team's standards and inspired athletes to reach their fullest potential. Mykala's expertise in defensive strategy has been a cornerstone of our success, instilling discipline and resilience that defined our defensive identity.
Beyond her technical knowledge, Mykala's leadership extended into the community through camps and clinics at JCC and local high schools, where she empowered aspiring volleyball players and fostered a love for the sport. She has always gone above and beyond for our athletes—providing crucial behind-the-scenes support through nutrition guidance, uniform organization, and heartfelt emotional encouragement, ensuring every player felt valued and prepared.

Her commitment to athlete experience was further reflected in her work at Victory Promotions, where she made sure the team was outfitted with top-quality gear.
