Jefferson Volleyball Opens up Regular Season with a Win

Sophomore Marjorie Vazquez gets air

After compiling three dominating wins in the pre-season against non-regional teams, the Lady Cannoneers started their regular season with a win against Finger Lakes Community College on September 4th in four sets (18-25, 25-17, 25-23, 25-19).  Although the playing seemed a bit "off" on our end the team kept fighting for the win even after a loss in the first set.  Marjorie Vazquez finished the night with 14 kills, 13 digs, and 5 blocks.  Allison Burrows added 5 kills and 15 digs, Libero Jenna Wilson added 9 digs, and Kelsey finster compiled 29 assists.  Aliza Deasy chipped in 2 blocks, Grace Gehrke had 2 kills, and Nicole O'Connor finished with 12 digs.  Freshman Brooke Everson had a solid night and ended with 3 digs and 11 kills.  The team will look to re-focus in practice the next two nights going into the Home Invite Tournament this Saturday, September 7th starting at 10:00 a.m.  Come on out and support the girls!
