The Lady Cannoneers Look To Pick Up Where they Left Off

After finishing the 2013 season 23-13, 2nd in the conference, and finishing in the top 8 for the region, the Lady Cannoneers hope to pick up where they left off last year.  The squad will be almost doubled this season and includes 3 returning players.  Haley Riley will return as a middle blocker.  Last season she compiled 309 kills, 52 blocks, 311 digs, and 320 service points.  We hope she will be a driving force behind our offense.  Nikki Wormwood returns as a hitter as well.  Last season she racked up 48 kills, 71 service points, and 127 digs.  Nikki will be a steady force for us this year, she has been working hard during the off season.  Finally, Keysha DeJesus Ortiz returns as a defensive specialist, last year she had 123 digs and 88 service points.  Keysha brings a lot of fire to the court and we will expect her to keep this team focused throughout the season.  Lahni Duffer rounds out the coaching staff this year and she brings a lot of knowledge and intensity to the team.  Several Frontier League All Stars and a couple of transfers will be joining the team this season and many hours of recruiting has paid off. 

Please come out and support the girls on their first weekend at JCC on September 6th and 7th.  The annual Home Invite Tournament starts at 10:00 on Saturday, September 6th.  On Sunday, at 10:00, the Lady Cannoneers host Corning for their first MSAC match.
