Vaughn's Shutout and Stokely's Goal Propel the Lady Cannoneers to Finish Regular Season With a Win Over the Lady Saints
Jefferson Women's Soccer end their regular season with a win against North Country.
The Cannoneer Women's Soccer Program earned a hard fought 1-0 victory over North Country, proving they can do it on a cold rainy night in Watertown. Despite creating some great chances and hitting the crossbar and uprights at least 3 times throughout the match it took the Cannoneers well over an hour of play before Stokely found the back of the net against 2024 All-American keeper Gaddor. At the other end captain Alberry led her defense to yet another shutout with goalkeeper Vaughn and freshman defender King (player of the match) putting in spirited performances to ensure the clean sheet.
The Cannoneers finish their regular season with an incredible 9-2 record (6-0 at home), Top 10 Team national ranking, 51 goals scored and 15 conceded, 4 shutouts, and with 4 players earning top 10 player national rankings. Out of over 700 players in the NJCAA D3 - Bombard #3 (assists), Dillenback #5 (assists), Stokely #5 (goals) and #13 (assists), and Vaughn #4 (total saves) and #5 for (save percentage) have all put up stats to show they are some of the top players in the country.
The Cannoneers take the #3 seed going into the regional tournament and will host Hudson Valley next Wednesday at home for the opening round of playoffs. A win would send them to Genesee for the Region 3 Finals and a shot at the national tournament.
