The #10 Jefferson Lady Cannoneers opened play at the 2026 NJCAA Division III Women's Basketball National Championship with a hard-fought battle but ultimately fell 69-64 to #7 Owens Community College in the first round. Jefferson was led offensively by Keera Lalonde, who finished with 19 points to pae the Lady Cannoneers. Brooke Wiley added 12 points, while Jakayla Spence provided a strong spark off the bench with 14 points. On the glass, Madelyne Ferris was dominant, pulling down 16 rebounds to lead Jefferson's rebounding effort.
Despite the loss, Jefferson will have another opportunity on the national stage as they move into the consolation bracket. Jefferson is set to face Dallas College of Richland in the consolation game on Friday at 11:00 am EST.
