Lady Cannoneers Roll Past Lady Panthers, in Home Opener
Jefferson Women's Basketball defeat the Lady Panthers
In the home opener, the Cannoneers jumped out to a dominant 30–6 first-quarter lead over the Tompkins Cortland Panthers. The Panthers battled back in the second quarter, outscoring Jefferson 19–9, but the Cannoneers still held a 39–25 advantage at halftime. Jefferson came out of the break with great energy, opening the second half on a 10–0 run and outscoring the Panthers 40–23 over the final two quarters to secure a convincing 79–46 victory.
With the win, the Cannoneers improved to 5–1 overall and 2–0 in MSAC play. Four freshmen scored in double figures, led by Keera Lalonde with 18 points and four offensive rebounds. Brooke Wiley added 14 points, six rebounds, and three blocked shots, while Maddy Ferris posted a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Abby Bombard chipped in 12 points, six rebounds, and four assists. Freshman Sincerity Diange rounded out the scoring with eight points and three assists.
