Wednesday night was Military appreciation night at The McVean Center Gymnasium. The Lady Cannoneers kicked off their season opener against Region 3 opponent Mohawk Valley Community College. Early in the game Mohawk jumped out to a double digit lead in the first quarter behind hot shooting from the perimeter. Sophomore duo Ashlyn Eyles and Alyson Crosby helped lead the charge in the second quarter cutting what was once an 18 point deficit to 12 at the half. Jefferson continued to slowly chip away at the start of the 3rd quarter Eyles, Raven, and Crosby notched 10 quick points to start the half cutting the Mohawk lead to 5 points. The Hawks and Cannoneers would battle back and forth with what was left of the 3rd quarter and deep into the 4th quarter. Jefferson would battle back to one point down with just 4 minutes left, but that would be as close as they would get seeing Mohawk pull away for a hard fought 7 point victory. Eyles, and Crosby each notched 20 points in the loss.
