The Lady Cannoneers Head into the Thanksgiving Break 5-2
This weekend proved to be another test for the Jefferson Women's Basketball team as they won Saturday against Schenectady and fell to Fulton-Montgomery in Double Over-time on Sunday.
Saturday:
On Saturday The Lady Cannoneers faced off against Region III opponent Schenectady County Community College. Saturday saw the Lady Cannoneers produce their most consistent game of the year. They shot 44 percent from the floor, and 95 percent from the free throw line. Jasmine Canady led the way with 26 points, and 9 steals! Alyssa Crosby totaled 18 points, 18 rebounds while Amanda Roberts chipped in 10 points, 11 assists!
Sunday:
On Sunday The Lady Cannoneers found themselves matched up with Fulton Montgomery Community College. A match up of two of the top four teams in the Region. Both teams battled back and forth throughout the game with 10 different lead changes, and 8 separate ties. A three pointer by FMCC with less than one second on the clock tied the game at 74 and sent the game to overtime. The Cannoneers fighting foul trouble all afternoon found themselves tied yet again at the end of the first overtime after a put back layup by FMCC. Foul trouble took its toll and at the end of the second overtime the visiting Lady Raiders walked away with a double OT win against The Lady Cannoneers. Alyssa Crosby tallied 30 points, and 11 rebounds to lead Jefferson, while Jasmine Canady chipped in 25 points and 5 steals with backcourt counterpart Amanda Roberts contributing 13 points and 6 assists.
