Jefferson Softball Dominates, Sweeps Monroe at Home.
Lady Cannoneers take two from Monroe on home turf.

The Cannoneers hosted the Tribunes from Monroe on Sophomore Day. The Cannoneers would score first via an RBI single by Olivia Dalin in the bottom or the 2nd plating Haley Parker who had lead off the inning with a walk. Dalin would once again plate Parker in the bottom of the 4th via a sacrifice bunt to up the lead to 2-0. The Tribunes would get one back in the top of the 5th halving the Jefferson lead. The Cannoneers would score 3 insurance runs in the bottom of the 6th on singles by Lizzy Hobbs, Parker and Dalin. Those runs would prove to be huge as Monroe attempted to rally in the top of the 7th. The rally would come up short as the Cannoneers won game 1 by a score of 5-3. Layla Killino earned her 9th win of the season in the circle scattering 8 hits, allowing 2 earned runs, striking out 8. Parker and Dalin lead the offense with 2 hits apiece.
Game 2 was another close affair with Jefferson plating runs in the top of the 2nd and 4th innings to jump on top 2-0. Monroe would tie the score in the bottom of the 5th against Cannoneer starter Shea O'Dell. The Cannoneers would retake the lead in the top of the 6th inning when Haley Parker stole home. After a walk to lead off the bottom of the 6th Layla Killino would be summoned into the circle to try to hold the lead. Killino would escape the 6th with stranding runners on first and second. Rylynn Bain would lead off the top of the 7th inning for Jefferson reaching base via a hit by pitch. Kayla Warden would follow with a single. One out later Killino would triple to clear the bases upping the Jefferson lead to 5-2. Killino would later score on a wild pitch. The Tribunes would once again attempt to rally in the last inning scoring 2 unearned runs and bringing the tying run to the plate. Killino would induce a weak ground ball to Brooke Matys at short to end the rally and give the Cannoneers the Sophomore Day sweep. It was Killino's first save of the season. The sweep moves the Cannoneers into 4th place in the Region. Jefferson will host Tompkins Cortland Community College on Tuesday in their final regular season home games.
