Killino Strikesout 14 Against SUNY Niagara
Jefferson Softball comes home with a 5-2 victory against SUNY Niagara.
The Cannoneers softball team traveled to face Niagara in Regional action. Game one saw the Cannoneers get on the board first in the top of the second. Haley Parker tripled to lead off the inning and would score on a two out double by Eily Vaughn for the 1-0 lead. Jefferson would push the lead to 5-0 in the top of the 3rd via singles from Brooke Matys, Layla Killino, Shea O'Dell and a double from Eily Vaughn. Layla Killino was dominant in the circle for the Cannoneers pitching a strong 7 innings, allowing only 2 runs on 3 hits, while recording 14 strikeouts in the 5-2 Jefferson victory. The win pushes the Cannoneer overall record to 9-8 and regional record to 6-5. Game 2 was postponed due to a torrential downpour. The Cannoneers next four doubleheaders are all at home beginning Tuesday versus Onondaga.
