Jefferson Softball opened the home portion of their schedule by hosting Genesee Community College. After two scoreless innings the visiting Cougars would break out for 7 runs in the 3rd inning to take control of game 1. The Cannoneers were unable to battle back and dropped game 1 by a score of 10-3. Lizzy Hobbs paced the Jefferson offense getting 3 of the home teams 8 hits including a double. Brooke Matys and Scout Preston chipped in with 2 hits apiece.
The Cannoneers would prevail in game 2 to earn the split. The Cougars would break out on top plating 3 runs in the top of bottom of the 1st inning off Jefferson starter Shea O'Dell. In the top of the 2nd the Cannoneers would get one run back on an RBI single by Olivia Dalin. Layla Killino took over pitching duties in the bottom of the 2nd inning and kept the Cougars scoreless for the remainder of the game. Killino allowed only 4 hits over the last 6 innings. Jefferson would score 5 runs in the 5th inning aided by 2 Cougar errors and 2 RBI singles from Killino and Preston to win by a final score of 6-3. Killino and Dalin would finish with 2 hits apiece for the victors.
