The Cannoneers Take Winning Streak to Seven
The Jefferson Men's Basketball team continues to dominate!
On Saturday, the Cannoneers traveled to Columbia-Greene Community College to take on the Twins. Jefferson came away with a hard fought 81-63 win. Once again, balance was the name of the game, as 4 players scored in double figures for the Cannoneers. Leading the way was Deshawn Cann with 21 points and 4 assists, followed by Natell Windley with 14 points. Christian Rohlehr, 12 points, 7 rebounds and Karaan Newsome 10 points and 9 assists continued their steady play. Trevane Jones had a monster day off the glass as he hauled in 22 rebounds on the day to help secure the win and move the Cannoneers to 6-2 in Region III play.
On Sunday, the Broncos of SUNY Delhi came to the McVean gymnasium and the Cannoneers got their legs back in a back and forth contest that saw the Cannoneers beat the Broncos 98-87. Once again, it was a balanced team effort and some timely scoring by individual players that helped propel the Cannoneers to victory. Leading the way with a huge game was Christain Rohlehr as he recorded a triple double, with 22 points, 13 rebounds and 10 blocks. Deshawn Cann had a double-double with 18 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists. Javon Hunter scored 16 of his 18 points in the second half and helped keep the Broncos at bay. Karaan Newsome continued his steady play with 15 points, as did Natell Windley with 12 points. Ismaeel Safo had a strong game with 10 points off the bench.
