The Jefferson Cannoneers continued their strong run in the AAU National Championship Tournament with an impressive 6–3 victory over Canisius University, earning a spot in the next round.
Jefferson set the tone early in the first period when captain Cameron Winebar opened the scoring with a goal assisted by Mason Savage and Owen Bismarck. Later in the period, Bismarck added a goal of his own off an assist from Tyler Sovie.
Winebar struck again to extend the Cannoneers' lead, finishing a play set up by Dylan Johnson and Owen VanBrocklin. Jefferson continued to build momentum in the third period. Drew Blevins found the back of the net with assists from Mason Jeeves and VanBrocklin. Tyler Sovie followed with a goal of his own, assisted by Daniel Keegan and Savage. Savage later capped off the scoring with a goal to seal the 6–3 win.
Between the pipes, Avery Zenger delivered another strong performance, stopping 40 of 43 shots to help secure the victory. With the win, Jefferson advances and will face Springfield University next at 4:00 p.m. today as the Cannoneers continue their pursuit of a national championship.
