Jefferson Hockey Recognizes Sophomores
Jefferson Hockey Defeats UAlbany.
Watertown, NY — Jefferson Community College delivered a commanding performance on a packed Sophomore Night at Watertown Municipal Arena, defeating the University at Albany and completing a season sweep of the Great Danes. The night opened with President Dupee welcoming the sophomores and their families, setting the tone for an energized and celebratory atmosphere. Jefferson debuted their new Blackout uniforms, which ignited the crowd and the team from the start.
Captain Cameron Winebar put the Cannoneers on the board early in the first period, capitalizing on strong offensive pressure. Jefferson continued to roll as Drew Blevins and Owen Bismarck each added goals, building a multi‑goal advantage. Albany managed to convert late in the period on a power play, but Jefferson maintained full control of the pace.
In the second period, Carson Barrett extended the lead with a well‑placed finish, further boosting Jefferson's momentum. The Cannoneers sealed the victory early in the third when Mason Savage found the back of the net, shutting down any hopes of a UAlbany comeback.
Tyler Sovie anchored the offense with a standout three‑assist performance, helping drive Jefferson's balanced and relentless attack. The win not only punctuated a memorable Sophomore Night but also secured Jefferson's season sweep of UAlbany, showcasing the team's growth, depth, and determination as the season progresses.
