Jefferson Shows Grit and Resolve in 5–3 Win Over Rival PSC Bobcats
Jefferson ends regular season with win against Paul Smith's.
Jefferson Community College leaned on determination, timely special teams execution, and a dominant third period to earn a 5–3 victory over rival Paul Smith's College on Sunday, outlasting the PSC Bobcats in a hard-fought matchup.
The game tilted heavily in PSC's favor in the second period, as the Bobcats used a flurry of goals to seize momentum. Attila Quesnel scored twice in the frame, while Sean Wright added another, allowing PSC to build a commanding lead and put Jefferson on its heels. Jefferson finally broke through late in the period when Mason Savage capitalized on the power play, finishing a feed from Cameron Winebar to shift momentum heading into the intermission.
That goal proved to be the turning point. Jefferson came out flying in the third period and wasted no time pulling even. Just 55 seconds into the frame, Savage struck again, burying a goal assisted by Owen Bismarck to spark the comeback. The Cannoneers kept the pressure on, and midway through the period, Drew Blevins converted on the power play off a setup from Savage to give Jefferson its first lead of the night. PSC attempted to respond, but Jefferson's pace and discipline continued to pay off. Blevins added what would stand as the game winning goal at 8:27, finishing a play created by Tyler Sovie. Moments later, Savage completed a hat trick, scoring his third of the game to put the contest out of reach. Despite PSC's strong second period surge, Jefferson's resilience and a four goal third period proved decisive. The Cannoneers' ability to respond under pressure, particularly on special teams, highlighted their growth and composure in a rivalry game with playoff like intensity.
Jefferson's comeback win not only showcased their offensive depth and leadership but also reinforced their reputation as a team that refuses to back down when momentum turns against them.
