Cannoneers Sweep Cranberry Classic as Captain Cameron Winebar Hits Historic Milestone
Winebar leads Cannoneers to Victory.
The Jefferson Community College Cannoneers hockey team delivered an unforgettable performance this past weekend at the Inaugural Cranberry Classic, taking on a perennial powerhouse Redeemer University of Hamilton, Ontario in a two-game showdown. The Cannoneers emerged victorious in both contests, winning 5-4 on Friday, and following up with a 6-4 triumph on Saturday—a statement weekend for the program.
While the team's success was a collective effort, one name stood out above the rest— Cameron Winebar. The sophomore forward etched his name into Cannoneer history by scoring his 50th career goal during Friday's thrilling win. This milestone is not just a number—it represents the relentless work ethic, skill, and leadership that Cameron has brought to the program since day one.
Winebar didn't stop there. In Saturday's game, he added two key assists, showcasing his ability to elevate the play of those around him. His performance over the weekend was a perfect example of why he is not only a top scorer but also a consummate team leader.
Cameron's journey with JCC began during the inaugural season of our hockey program in 2023-2024, when he joined mid-year and immediately made an impact. His maturity and leadership qualities quickly became evident, earning him the role of team Captain for the 2024-2025 season—a responsibility he embraced wholeheartedly. Returning this year, Cameron continues to set the standard for excellence, both on and off the ice. His dedication has been instrumental in shaping the identity of Cannoneer Hockey and inspiring his teammates to push the program forward.
For his historic achievement and unwavering leadership, Cameron Winebar has been named JCC Athlete of the Week. Congratulations, Cam—you are a true ambassador for Cannoneer athletics, and your legacy is just beginning.
