Cannoneers Come Up Empty Despite Chances
Jefferson Hockey lose one on the road to Clarkson.
The Jefferson Hockey team traveled up to Potsdam, New York to face the Golden Knights of Clarkson University. This was a big test for Cannoneers given the fact of the Golden Knights played at a division higher.
The first period was a fast-paced back-and-forth battle. The Cannoneers would strike first with Owen Bismarck with a snapper to the top right corner giving them the 1-0 lead. The period would continue with the fast pace until the Golden Knights fired one back towards the end of the period making it 1-1 heading into the 2nd period.
The 2nd was no different from the 1st. The Cannoneers and Golden Knights would continue the back-and-forth with bigger hits and scrums throughout the period. But the Golden Knights would eventually strike again making it 2-1 heading to the 3rd.
The 3rd period unfortunately wouldn't begin the Cannoneers' way. The Golden Knights would fire a quick power play goal to start the 3rd and 2 more right after to make the score 5-1. The Cannoneers created several scoring opportunities but were unable to add to the scoreboard and finished the game with a 5-1 loss to the Golden Knights.
The Cannoneers are back at home to face the nationally ranked Central Maine Community College on September 27th at the Watertown Municipal Arena.
